During the month of October in the year 2006, an unsettling and distressing tale emerged across emails and the web, recounting the tragic fate of a young girl named Carmen Winstead, who is sometimes also known as Jessica Smith. As the story unfolds, Carmen allegedly met with a horrifying demise when five of her fellow girl students in her school callously pushed her into a sewer, leaving her abandoned to perish. And now Carmen is seeking revenge for her death!
The story of Carmen Winstead starts here
A young girl is in her bathroom at home, getting ready to take a shower, when she hears a strange noise, a faint gurgling. Although her subconscious mind found it weird, she quickly dismissed it as something happening in the plumbing.
She steps into the shower and turns on the water tap, she hears the sound again. This time it was louder, and seemed to be coming from the drain. The sound was of laughing, a strange, mocking chuckle, clearly discernible over the exiting water. She thinks it’s her mind that is playing tricks with her.
But she immediately recounts an event that had taken place seven months earlier, a tragedy and a black lie she had been a part of.
She calls her mom yelling, “Mom, here’s a strange sound of laughter coming from the water pipe!” But all she receives in return is a strange look and a suggestion to forget about it, to go to bed. The girl does this, not knowing her end is close.
That night the mother hears a series of crusty noises and a loud bang from her daughter’s room. She slips out of bed to check if her daughter is ok. Upon entering the room, she finds her daughter’s bed empty. Now she becomes totally shocked when she can’t find her daughter after checking the entire house even the bathroom and the basement. Her daughter was gone!
The police are called in and an investigation is carried out. It does not take too long for the girl to be found, soon police discover something suspicious in a nearby sewer of which cap is partially opened.
Flashing their torches into the opening, they find the missing girl, head looking back up towards them, the neck twisted in an unusual way. Her face stripped of its flesh.
Now, four other girls will have to meet the same fate. Because Carmen Winstead has returned for her revenge.
Who is Carmen Winstead? Why is she taking revenge this way?
Carmen Winstead is a name found in the spooky chain letters that have been circulating on the internet in various forms and ways, however, all convey the same story with the same consequences. Here’s one:
Hi, my name is Carmen Winstead. I’m 17 years old. I am very similar to you… Did I mention to you that I’m dead? A few years ago a group of girls pushed me down a sewer hole to try and embarrass me. When I didn’t come back up the police came. The girls said that I had fell and everyone believed them. The police found my body in the sewer. I had a broken neck and my face was torn off. Send this message to 15 people after you read the whole message if you value your life! A boy called David received this message. He just laughed and deleted it. When he was in the shower he heard laughing… MY LAUGHTER! He got really scared, rushed to his phone to repost this message… But he was too late. The next morning his mum entered his bedroom and all she found was a message written in his blood saying, “You will never have him back!” No one has found his body yet… because he is with me!… Send this to 15 people in the next 5 minutes if you don’t want your fate to be the same as David’s. Your time starts… NOW! The story is true you can research it on google”
There’re some other versions too
Version II
“She was pushed!”
About 6 years ago in Indiana, Carmen Winstead was pushed down a sewer opening by 5 girls in her school, trying to embarrass her in front of her school during a fire drill. When she didn’t submerge the police were called. They went down and brought up 17-year-old Carmen Winstead’s body, the neck broke hitting the ladder, then side concrete at the bottom. The girls told everyone she fell… They believed them. 2 months ago, 16-year-old David Gregory read this post and didn’t repost it. When he went to take a shower he heard laughter from his shower, he started freaking out and ran to his computer to repost it, He said goodnight to his mom and went to sleep, 5 hours later his mom woke up in the middle of the night cause of a loud noise, David was gone, that morning a few hours later the police found him in the sewer, his neck broke and his face skin peeled off. If you don’t repost this saying “She was pushed!” or “They Pushed her down a sewer!” then Carmen will get you, either from a sewer, the toilet, the shower, or when you go to sleep you’ll wake up in the sewer, in the dark, then Carmen will come and kill you.

Is there any truth behind the story of Carmen Winstead?
Carmen Winstead’s story is tragic and scary at the same time. However, in reality, no teen girl named Carmen Winstead or Jessica Smith died in such way, in Indiana, or in any other state in the United States “about six years ago” that means in the year 2000. If such a tragedy had really happened, it would have been reported in the newspapers. We searched for news reports about this and found nothing. Therefore, this tale is nothing but a fiction – a typical chain letter of the sort favored by pre-teens.
A chain letter commonly consists of “luck generation” or “ill luck avoidance” chain stories decorated in a psychological manner. Its purpose is nothing rather than imploring recipients to mail it to others, or to repost it on Facebook or Whatsapp or MySpace like social media platforms. Some others such infamous chain letters are: “Bloody Mary,” “Teddy,” “Clarissa” and etc.
