Young Benedetto Supino from Italy was reading a comic bock in 1982 when suddenly his book burst into flames. Unlike his heroes though, he couldn’t seem to control the fire. It would burn his sheets when he slept, and electronic devices ceased working when around him. This situation persisted for several years before Supino finally learned how to control it. Doctors and researchers had no idea why this continued to happen.

At the time, no doubt, he claimed total innocence to deaf ears. Once a fiery pattern was established after a few more incidents, his surrounding adults may have been more likely to believe him especially when they actually saw him accidentally ignite things without a match in sight.

The phenomena didn’t stop here. A few days later one morning, Benedetto was awakened by a fire in his own bed, his pajamas were in flames and the boy suffered severe burns. He had no control of it so it turned into a curse to him.

On another occasion, a small plastic object held in his uncle’s hands began to burn as Benedetto stared at it. Just about everywhere he went, furniture, paper, books and other items would start to smoulder or burn. Some witnesses even claimed to see his hands glow at these moments.

Everywhere he went according to some sources, fuse boxes ignited, newspapers burst into flames and nonspecific ‘small objects’ would smoke and burn. Obviously, the boy’s parents worried. They sent him to doctors and physicists who examined him thoroughly but they failed to come up with any logical conclusions for the strangeness.

Later Benedetto was also sent to an Archbishop with the same result nothing. The burden taxed the boy he himself can be quoted as saying:

“I don’t want things to catch fire, but what can I do?”

It seems though, that with some help of a parapsychologist, Dr. Demetrio Croce, Benedetto was finally able to learn control over his abilities.

Though Benedetto Supino’s strange story made a number of sensational headlines in Italian newspapers, in the 1980s, his whereabouts today are unknown. Benedetto has been cited in various books and magazines as Human Torch, The Fire Boy, Benito Supino, Benedicto Supino and Human Flame Thrower.

What we further know about him is that he was born on December 5th of 1973, in Formia, Italy and he is now 46 years old. So, he could be living among us but no one seems to know where he is now and exactly what happened to him in his childhood or adolescent years.
